MiTime / FaceTime® tips
- Once activated with MiTime, never turn the FaceTime toggle ON in Settings->Phone directly. Run MiTime and it will restore your activation and turn it on. Also, never agree to the SMS/FaceTime costs popup alert if you see it *outside* of MiTime. This will save you from incurring unnecessary SMS charges.
- Do not install any push fixes after activating with MiTime unless instructed to by MiTime1. MiTime restores your push certificates and token every time it restores your activation. If you are concerned about your push certificates, just turn off FaceTime and use MiTime to restore your activation.
- When you change SIM cards, it is best if you turn off FaceTime before you do so. Then, just run MiTime with the new SIM inserted and it will either restore your activation or let you test your compatibility.
1 Pushfix 2.0 and Push Doctor are both supported methods of getting unique push certificates. SAM does not provide unique push certificates (even if you use Clear Push Sessions).

Frequently asked questions
Q: Can I call an iPod Touch or Mac from an iPhone 4 running 4.0.x?
No. You can call any iPhone 4 (or jailbroken 3GS with FaceTime), regardless of OS version and they can call you. You will not be able to call 4th gen iPod Touch's or Mac computers with FaceTime, nor will they be able to call you until you upgrade to 4.1 or higher.
Q: Why I am getting FaceTime failed when calling a number?
Make sure your cell data is configured properly and your push notifications are working. Cell data should be turned OFF in Settings->General->Network for all users (especially US T-Mobile customers!) who don't pay for cell internet/data. If your cell data is on, make sure your data APN is set correctly in Settings->General->Network.
Try calling the person first, then using the FaceTime button during the call. If this works, it is certainly a problem with your cellular data settings.
Q: Why I am getting FaceTime unavailable when calling a number?
Make sure you are dialing a number in *international* calling format. In the US, we can dial numbers with the 10 digit #. Other countries usually need to dial the full number or set it for the contact they are dialing. Ex: +447624800500 (there might be a few exceptions to this rule)
Q: When I call someone it makes a ringing sound but their phone doesn't ring. When I am called, the other user reports their phone rings and rings but my phone does nothing. Why?
This is almost always caused by your push notifications not working. Even outbound calls require *your* push notifications to work in order to place the call. Test both phones push notifications using the button in MiTime when possible.
If your push notifications are found to be the problem, here are some tips:
1) Try turning on airplane mode for 5 seconds, then turn it off. Sometimes push notifications can be broken temporarily on your carrier because the carriers cellular data network goes down.
2) Try turning on airplane mode, then turn on WiFi. This will allow you to test push notifications solely over the WiFi network.
3) If you have no cellular data plan and your cell data was off, try changing your WiFi DNS setting to 8.8.8.8 as shown here: http://www.whatsapp.com/faq/#33
Q: Why does my FaceTime call never get past the "connecting" stage after the call is accepted?
This situation happens when the two devices cannot find a way to connect to each other. It could be a temporary network problem on either side or it could be a firewall issue.
Please check your firewall or have the other party check theirs. Here is Apple's article on using FaceTime behind a firewall. iPhone 4 and iPod touch (4th generation): Using FaceTime behind a firewall
Q: Why am I getting another purchase code? I have purchased.
You are currently able to change your phone OR your SIM card up to 3 times free and still be recognized as a purchaser. You cannot change your phone AND SIM card at the same time and still be considered a purchaser. This is a very flexible licensing policy, but if you disagree or feel that something is wrong, please either 1) respond via email to the Paypal receipt that you received or 2) Contact me on Twitter by writing @pushfix.
Q: Do you have anything to fix my broken YouTube app?
Please install one of the three YouTube fixes on my repo, http://cydia.pushfix.info/
Try it again and if it still doesn't work, try one of the other ones. At least one of the three will ultimately work for everyone.
